Junior Year begins....

I can't believe that 2 years ago I was driving with my parents to little Oxford, Ohio and they unloaded my stuff and drove away.
So much has happened in those two years.....CRAZY!

Okay- so I have not stopped all summer. I went from summer classes to RA training ( there are some good pictures) to Freshman move-in and class starts tomorrow. Where is my life going??

So mid-summer, I lost my job and then two weeks before training I got a new job :) I am now working with students who live in the "Celebrate the Arts" community. I love it!!!!! and I love my staff.

Here are some pics of us during training :)

This is the staff dressed up for Roll Call. We did the "Thriller" dance :)

Rachel, myself and Brad playing "Bippoty bippoty bop" in the rain....good times!

Studying in the Summer

One summer class down and one to go! I worked hard and ended "Diverse Families in the US" with an A...it has been awhile since I have seen one of those : )

Life has been on the up-n-up since my last post. I am now officially out of the "teenage years". It took eight years but I am 20!! Hopefully, my upcoming posts will have more pictures, because I am getting a digital camera.

In celebration of my birthday and Natalie's birthday, Nat and my mom came down and we spent two days doing girlie things. The three of went and got pedicures for the first time which was a lot of fun! Since moving to Oxford, I have become addicted to painting pottery at "You're Fired" and so I took them there to enjoy an afternoon of relaxing and painting.

Maybe once school starts I will have more exciting things to share with the world : )

The First Worst Day of Adulthood

Oh how I wish there was cake and a party the day you reach adulthood, but there's not just bills and more bills and work. Today started out lovely, the sun was shining, class got out early and I don't have homework. On my way back to my dorm I thought "I should move my car to the closer parking lot while I am out and about." I did not have my keys with me, but I did have my spare key in my wallet. So I walked to my car and unlocked the door, put the key in the ignition and drove over to the closer parking lot. Lucky me, there was a space! I parked and went to turn off my car and take the key out....it wouldn't come out...I jiggled the key and the steering wheel and tried everything...nothing worked. Okay, called my dad....he told me to do everything I had already done. Next thought...Wal-mart has an auto service center...So I drive to Wal-mart and wait and wait for someone to help me....No one comes!!!

Now.....What do I do??? I call triple A....they can't help me because my car "works". Yes my car can go from point A to point B, but I CAN'T TURN MY CAR OFF! So the lady from triple A gives me a number for a locksmith. I called the locksmith after getting all of my information (name, the address where I ways etc.) tells me that he will be there in an hour. Okay, I will just sit in the Wal-mart parking lot until you get here Mr. Locksmith Man.

Reasons for waiting in the Wal-mart parking lot:

1) It is a public place with lots of people
2)I am alone
3)This locksmith could be an ax murderer on the side
4)There are video cameras that overlook the parking lot.

So after waiting for an hour and 20 minutes the locksmith shows up. Pulls out is tool kit and WD-40 an pops out the key...... I waited for over an hour for this guy to take two minutes to spray the key with WD-40. So the Locksmith says okay that is $164.50....excuse me? Yes ladies and gentlemen....$164.50. He wants cash because his credit card machine is broken. Well as a poor college student, I don't carry around 100's of dollars with me...So he holds my ID hostage while I go into Wal-mart to the ATM and withdrawal my life's savings.

I called me Dad after I drove away from Wal-mart and he said "Welcome to being an adult with a car." No cake, no balloons, just lots of money. So here I am, a poor adult college student with a car. Here's to many more lessons of adulthood...

Spring!

The semester is almost over! I only have four more days of class and four finals, then it's summer. The past few weeks have been pack full of fun stuff. Here are some pictures of my adventures:

Amber, Myself and Jillian at Amber's surprise Engagement Party. She is the first of us to be getting married : )

My friends and I participated in a 24 hours scavenger hunt. Our team name was the "Party Planning Committee" and we are in front of "The Office" house.

This is my grandparents and I at the "Grandparents of the Year" Awards. They didn't win but, but they loved the pins and the certificate.

Why do Girls scream?

I was doing some homework in Emily's (a fellow RA) room with Chris and Emily. At about 10:37, we heard screams coming from down the hall. Emily and I look at each other and with the same look on our faces (the are you kidding me face). We thought that it was just a spider or an ant. Chris rolls his eyes and says "I am not killing anything for those stupid girls." The screaming continued, so Emily and I decide to go make sure everything is okay. We located the room of panicked/laughing girls and asked if everything was okay. The panicked girl in the room explained that she thought she had been shot. Her roommate and the other girls in the room erupted into laughter. Apparently, someone was outside in the quad and had a green laser pointer and had shined it in their window. The laser landed on the girl and she started screaming, which caused the other girls to scream too. Sadly, the girl had not been shot and luckily we did not have to kill a mouse or something.

Let's start at the very beginning....

I am beginning this blogging journey at the request of my dear friend, who shall remain nameless. I am visiting said friend in the beautiful state of California(hint, hint). This week has been so refreshing for multiple reasons. I am a college student and I rarely come in contact with small children. Being able to play with three little balls of energy is a change of pace from my freshmen residents. God blessed me, before going away to school, by placing two couples in my life when I needed guidance. Unfortunately for me, God needed them elsewhere. This week has given me the opportunity to catch up on the two years of change in both my life and their life along with some hard labor. In short, spring break is coming to a close and I can't imagine doing anything else.
